Our honey has a minimum MGO 850+ (Methylglyoxal). This is the key active marker found in Manuka. The higher the number, the higher the concentration. Our honey is tested independently in New Zealand.

I’ve always wanted to try Manuka Honey as I’ve heard such good things about it. It’s much thicker than liquid honey but that’s because it’s completely natural.Manuka Honey has several health benefits like supporting gut health, soothing a sore throat and even helping to aid the healing of a wound. A teaspoon a day can do you so much good!I have tried a spoon of this neat, in natural yoghurt, and in lemon & ginger tea. I really enjoyed it with the yoghurt and in the tea but I’m not so keen on it neat. It has quite a strange taste to it, it’s not unpleasant but I prefer it mixed in with something.This type of honey is extremely expensive, I most certainly see it more as a daily supplement for health benefits rather than honey that you’d have on toast.
This lovely manuka honey from New Zealand has a certified content of 850mg of methylglyoxal (MGO) which is the beneficial organic compound possessing antibacterial properties that is higher than in normal honeys and hence its high price. Apart from its known use in wound healing it is a source of energy and a delicious food that can be enjoyed on your breakfast cereal with fruit or on toast. Its special properties harvested by bees from the manuka tree indigenous to New Zealand is therefore reflected in its high price. A smooth taste without being overpowering to the taste buds and which doesn’t have a heavy aroma. However, at this price point can only be a treat at almost £50 for a 250g jar. Recommended five star product.
I only use manuka honey, as the conventional honey taste is unappealing. The supermarket brand I use is MGO 250+, which seems expensive to me - but costs nothing like as much as this one. Some manuka honeys have a sort of medicine-like taste, but not this one. It is not oversweet, and although thick, will spread thinly on a slice of wholemeal bread without ripping it to pieces, and is an excellent accompaniment to a glass of green tea. It's too expensive for me to have regularly, unfortunately, so I'll eke out this jar and get some for special occasions only. A luxury product with a luxurious flavour.
This honey is to die for. It’s so velvety in texture & the taste is perfection. I invited my 85 year Dad to taste it as he’s been having honey on toast every day for over 50 years. He was very impressed indeed - so much so I had to give him the rest of my pot. I must admit the packaging won me over too - it’s very cool. I think it would make a gorgeous gift.
